Mrs. Donovan’s Class – Counting with Penguins

First-graders have been working with counting in many different activities this month.  We’ve been learning how to understanding teen numbers as a ten and more ones by building models with unifix cubes.

Another fun counting activity was part of learning about penguins and their adaptations to life in the cold.  We looked at fact cards about several different species of penguins, and used linking cubes to make models of their heights.  The math teams were very excited about this job, and kept asking for more penguins to measure!  Look for a display outside our room next week, and see how you compare to the penguins.
