[post_content] => The first grade classes at AES are excited to begin gardening with the Cornucopia Project! Our teachers, Peggy Saunders and Lauren Judd, came in today to help us start learning and growing plants we can eat! The seeds we all planted today will be sprouts when we return from April school break, and we'll get to taste them! We'll be working with the Cornucopia teachers once a week through the rest of the spring.

Gloria and Dawn from The Antrim Grange came to visit third graders on Friday, March 16th. We learned about the Grange, and all of the things they have done for our communities, like busing students to school, getting electricity to everyone, and setting the number of days students have to go to school. They gave each third grader their own dictionary to keep!

[post_content] => Mrs. Zawacki's class is learning about how animal body parts (adaptations) help the animals survive and make their lives easier. We started by reading The Snail's Spell and What Does This Tail Do? to learn exactly how different animals use their body parts. Then Jeannie Connelly from the Conval Arts Integration Program came to do a project with our class. With her help, in teams of four we created our own habitats for creatures we created. Each creature had special features that helped them survive in their habitat. It was an educational, collaborative and fun experience enjoyed by all!

February 23, 2018 was Art Day at AES. What a special day and we greatly appreciate all of the volunteers that came to share it with us. Whether it was creating sea creatures for our Children in the Arts Day mural, making colors disappear by creating spinning tops, learning team work by building a castle, or exploring our creative side by making kaleidoscopes; AES had a fun day filled with creativity and imagination.

4th grade students in the Conval school district experienced music from across American history with folk musician, Jeff Warner on Friday, February 16th.
Students learned about a variety of instruments, including the guitar, banjo, and Limberjack. They sang and listened to songs such as Buffalo Gals and Roll Alabama. Below are clips and information from the performance for students from Bennington, Antrim, and Francestown.
Thank you to the Conval Arts Integration Program for arranging this event that was filled with learning important history, great music, and laughter!

[post_content] => Antrim Elementary school was singing, jiving, and full of giggles last Thursday night when Steve Blunt and Marty Kelley performed an interactive fun show for both young and old. Steve sang some crowd pleasers involving the students and families with sign language, instruments, and silly vocals. Marty read aloud four of his books Winter Woes, The Rules, The Cape, and Almost Everybody Farts while the audience barely contained their laughter. It was a fun night had by all. A big thank you to our Title I teachers and school PTO for bringing these two talented people to share a night of family fun at AES! And an even bigger thank you to all the families who came out on a cold night to join us.
